{studio news} I'm back

It is good to be back. I had a great vacation and photographing Hannah & Craig’s destination wedding in Denmark was unreal. Loving my life right now!

It’s also exciting to be back home, reunited with Ernie (my dog child) and to be back in the studio. Let me tell you what is brewing over at katherine jane photography.

1. My studio name is katherinejane but after 5 years of magazines, venues and couples writing my name as katherine jane…. I’m making the switch from katherinejane to katherine jane.
2. Websites. I know! Everyone has been asking me when my new wedding and portrait sites will be ready. Sept 1st is my new launch date. It will be so rewarding and exciting to see the final products…and yes I will be having a launch party complete with my favorite food {cotton candy}
3. I’ll be having a huge portrait extravaganza during the month of September in celebration of my new portrait website. Please check out the katherine jane facebook page in the next week or two for more details!
4. Upcoming weddings. Looking forward to creating killer images for Kelly & Chuck (getting married today!!), Lindsey & Pete (I know all about the details of this day and can hardly stand it) and Sharmila and Cabul’s 3 days wedding celebration (yes I said 3 day wedding celebration!)
5. Finally here is a self-portrait of Chris and I. We are both pretty camera shy but I just love this image. It was taken last weekend while we were in Iceland. As you can tell it was a tad bit windy. Okay off to hide because he is going to kill me for posting this on my blog.

The first wedding of our 2010 season is almost here!! Mark and Kirsten’s wedding celebration will be taking us to the shores of Lake Champlain in VT. Insert huge smile here.

I just resigned the studio lease for another 3 years! I love my space, the community, the location and the ice cream shop that located way too close me. I just purchased something insanely fun for the studio…it’s a surprise so stay tuned.

Inhale. Exhale. Who in their right mind launches two new websites at the same time. I do that’s who! My new wedding and portrait websites are about 16 days away. My designer just sent me my new look and it was love at first sight. I really can’t wait! My family and friends will be happy to have me back☺

{studio news} this and that

First off. The image above..sisters. I love it!

Second. I just celebrated my anniversary. Still feel like the luckiest lady in the world!

I am so happy that spring is here. I spent the last few days of winter pumping 8 inches of water out of my basement…but feel fortunate that nothing was damaged or lost. When we bought our home our new neighbors warned us of possible flooding so we kept everything off the ground. I also found out that my metallic Hunter rain boots are not only fashion fabulous but also functional!

{not bragging just excited}
I love photographing weddings because I love people. Last week I meet with two incredible couples and I’m so thrilled that they selected my studio to photograph their weddings.
Meeting with Hannah (Hannah & Craig 7.31.2010} this week to go over the details of their 4 day European wedding. She has sent me images of some of her wedding details and I am counting down the days.
I am still behind on my blog posts. There is a lot going on behind the scenes here at the studio☺ so stay tuned.
and…this is long over due but my images from my trip Peru are being featured on the Choclo Project website, a French clothing company doing amazing work to help the children of Peru! Check out the images under the active artist section.

{studio news} 3,400 miles

I am back from my road trip. 3,400 miles in two weeks. It was a fabulous trip that included visiting C d’ Zan, touring the mangroves in the Everglades, visiting the Smithsonian National Museum of National History in DC, thrift shopping (I found an vintage baby scale!!!), hanging out with dolphins, a surprise birthday party, visiting the Edison & Ford Winter Estates and eating deep fried creamed corn...yes you read that correctly deep fried creamed corn.

My vacation was supposed to end on the sweet note of photographing Beth and Matt’s (October 2008) twin baby boys but we had to reschulde for next moth because mom was feeling not so fabulous. Can’t wait to see their boys!

I’ll be posting images from this adventure but only after I am caught up on my blog posts. I still have so many weddings and sessions to rave about and they of course will take priority!

{special thanks}

~ My friend Jen for going on this road trip with me for the third year in a row and for making me apple and cheese sandwiches while I drove.
~ The Freedman family showing us around the Everglades
~ The Witcher Family for introducing us to white burgundy wine
~ Uncle Joe for showing driving us around Chapel Hill in your electric car and drawing us handwritten maps that lead us to exactly what we were looking for.
~ My husband for painting our living room while I was away and taking care of our dog-child Ernie.

{studio news} babies and alligators and maybe some birds

The studio will be on the road from 2/22-3/06. I’m off to photograph babies and alligators and maybe some birds. It’s a long story but when I return and post images it will all make sense.☺

While I am on the road I’ll still be answering email/voice messages and scheduling sessions/ consultations. My studio will be closed on Feb 28th. Normal Sunday hours will resume on March 7th.

I have a bird/home-decorating obsession. The image below is of my newest purchase, a nest. I love it! The birds are actually salt and pepper shakers that I found at Brimfield last summer.

@ the studio

At the studio today because it is Sunday. First I have to say that I booked some great weddings this month, one Indian wedding that will span 4 days and include a white horse or two, a destination wedding in Mexico, a Vermont lakeside wedding and a rustic chic Berkshire wedding. Insert big happy smile here.

This coming weekend I was all set to head to NYC to be a set photographer for my friend Christina but unfortunaly filming dates got pushed back so no NYC for me. The good news is my clients Ralph and Heather called me yesterday with the news that their baby girl Madeline arrived a few weeks early so I will be heading to the baby nursery for a newborn session.

Erika and Karen {2007} are expecting baby number two. I photographed the baby story of their little girl Alice and I'm so very excited to document the arrival of her baby brother.

Tomorrow I will be hosting the NESOP wedding photography class at my studio. I was honored when the amazing Laura Pindea of Alternate Angles called me up to as me if I would be interested in showing her students my studio and answer questions about starting a photography business in Boston and the ins and outs of having a studio space.

As for as keeping up with my 2010 resolutions….

~ I have replaced my coffee maker with a juicer

~ I can call myself a runner again

~ My studio window is decorated for Valentines Day and looks darn cute

~ I had a shooting date with another photographer friend of mine. We went to New Bedford, MA and I only shot with a wide angle lens….images below.

~ I have cooked chili, seafood chowder and peanut butter cookies. That is it but it is a start. The chowder had one pound of bacon in it so not so healthy but so worth it!

~ I made plans with friends and did not cancel.

~ I’ve been bloggingJ
